I’ve used/tried many pickups from cheap to expensive pickups,Kolev Pickups in my opinion have this THING about them that I can’t explain,I was looking for a pickup that I couldn’t find off the shelf or try to explain to a pickup maker what I was looking for, anyway a friend of mine told me about Kolev Pickups I called Kris Kolev and explained to him in detail what I was looking for and what pickups I used in the past,Kris took the time(a lot of time)and came though, his pickups are high quality handmade and breath like the air very open but aggressive Kris Kolev knows pickups especially old PAFs very knowledgeable about pickups,Kolev pickups are out of Arlington Heights Illinois, anyway just to pass on some news if someone is looking for a specific sound that they can’t find.

I like that he uses A3 mags in several of his designs! Definitely an underutilized magnet

His location puts him about 20 minutes away from Mighty Mite...any chance he's the one making their USA pickups? Hmm...

I am seeing the local winders pop up more and more in this area. I have a back alley guy that will wind you any double cream you want

How do I know,Kris Kolev is a one man operation, one man that makes the pickups individually he’s like Tom Holmes of Tom Holmes Pickups.

It’s a 2014 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro II put in 50s wiring and installed Kolev hand wound pickups. The Gibson Axcess and Lifeson have a slimmer taper body in the back I like a regular sized Les Paul vs slimmer.

A les Paul???
Edwards best sound on the first album was the Ibanez destroyer not a LP. the real Brown Sound guitar was the Ibanez Destroyer.

Kolev Pickups??
EVH used the original super 70 pu with A8s.
later switch to a double cream might might, not some kolev stuff.

are you OK?

I know, right? We need to do a Pittbull wellness check...make sure he's ok and not taking Eddie's death too hard!

That guitar is absolutely gorgeous. The "tea burst" type finish is one of my faves on an LP. But a Floyd, too? :headbang:
