the guy who invented fire said:My Moderne is Korina...BTW Korina is a "trade name" for a wodd that is really called Limba. Korina was really the finish, but the name took aff as a "trade name" for the wood. Anyway, my Moderne...that guitar has a tone that I have NEVER heard before...Thwe BEST sounding Les Paul I have EVER played was really a Heritage "Class of 59" LP copy...it had a Limba back and neck. It is close to Mahogany but IMO it's worlds away. As far as Black VS. White Limba...I have NO idea, I have never played anything that was Black Limba. My only problem with Limba is that more people DO NOT use it...I wish all my guitars with Humbuckers were made with it!!!

the guy who invented fire said:Limba is a more porus wood that mahogany, it is because of that that Limba just seems to have a more open sound with expanded lows and HIGHS! Limba is more articulate that mahogany, I have always had great string to string defination with my Moderne...no matter what pups were in it! Like I said, is has very strong lows and very pronounced highs, but it's never brittle in the highend, it also has a good strong midrange. Limba is also much more resonant than mahogany. Mahogany is a great wood, and I love it for guitars with buckers, but Limba is (to me) a better wood for buckers...maybe singlecoils too, but when I hear Strat and or tele pups, I want to head Alder or Swamp Ash. A buddy of mine has a warmoth bold neck LP Jr...both the body and neck were just oiled...It looks amazing, it has a single Duncan P-90 and that guitar has the voice of GOD!!!
