Kramer Baretta Special

I ordered a Kramer Baretta Special in Candy Blue and it showed up yesterday with some flaws from the factory. On the back at the neck plate there's a small hairline crack on the body about 3 inches long. With this finish it is hard to see it but you can feel it. Near jack there is small ding and at headstock small one there, too. The truss rod cover screws were over tightened and that made two cracks. Cracks are under truss rod cover so not visible. Also there is a few paint flaws. But this guitar plays fantastic! I thought about returning but after spending more time with it, I'm just going to keep it.

For the price this guitar is killer. Very comfortable to play. Sounds great unplugged, too. It was already well setup when it arrived. Only thing I did was change the strings then good to go. Perfect action. The fret work is excellent with no sharp ends. All smooth. No fret buzz anywhere with low action. Fast slim neck built for shredding. The tuners seem to be holding tune well as long as you don't use the whammy bar and the single zebra pickup sounds good and has awesome sustain.

All in all for the price, even with the damage on mine, I love this guitar. So much fun to play. Someday I wouldn't mind picking up another in a different color to mod. For the time being, I'm keeping this one as is.

I've been seriously eyeing these as well, I really want a single hum. Trying to figure out how to get one in the house without the wife noticing.

This is my first ever single humbucker guitar. I want another in vintage white already... Good luck ordering without the wife noticing. As soon as it comes and you play it you won't be able to hide it for long. :)

Get the purple one instead. You can tell her it is just the way the light is hitting the blue.

As always - NEVER order online without being willing to go the extra mile to send it back.

And yes - they are cool little guitars.

I wish Gibson would either sell Kramer to someone who cares, or take that brand seriously.

My thoughts exactly.

Sounds like they upped the playability of the Specials since they first hit the market. I played a few and they felt like garbage.
