Kramer Barretta (used) price

The other day I was in a musoc store and saw a pretty cool Kramer Barretta.. It had the slanted pickup and said "American" in script writing on the headstock. What is a resonable price for this? They wanted $1200 which seemed prett high. it was in very good shape and had a skull graphic similar to what Warren Di Martini used to play in Ratt.

-fun for the comedy aspect alone. But judging by the prices, that baretta is going for four times what fatdawg would sell a used US Kramer for.

Right now is a bad time to get a Barretta, especially a graphic model. They're at the height of a popularity swing right now, so the prices are not all that reasonable.

Bear in mind what you're actually getting in an 'mia' kramer of that era is a nice floyd and JB attached to Japanese made, US assembled ESP parts. A friend had a baretta from that era and stripped the finish to find a six piece alder body. Still sounded good, though.

Thanks for the heads up man. I was thinking of playing the "I just bought one for $350 on e-bay card" and offering $400 and see if they bite. For $400 I don't think I could really go wrong could I?

Ask for the serial number. That'll tell you if it's a true MIA or MIA with ESP parts. That price is quite a bit steep IMO.

I hate to break it to you man, but the term 'made in America' must be applied very loosely to Kramers, and especially those made in the mid-late 80's. By this time they were being assembled in Neptune, NJ from overseas parts including necks made by ESP Japan (starting in 1986).

By the way RGN, which skull graphic was it?, and did it have the 'shark tooth' inlays?

$1200 for a graphic Baretta is definitely a bit high, but some are worth a lot more than others (ie. older Kline graphics) due to their rarity. As JB said there is somewhat of a resurgence in popularity for all American Kramers at the moment. Come to think of it, even the overseas models are rising in price.

I know, that's why I asked for the serial number. That will give a good idea whether it is truly made in America or made in America with ESP parts. I know my '88 Kline graphic Barretta was made with ESP parts in NJ.

I think it is closest to #3.. I don't remember the rose in its mouth and it had plain dot inlays if I remember correctly. Thanks for all of the feedback guys.
