Re: Kramer Flying V Bass (Aluminum Neck)

You need Schaller bass tuners, all the aluminum neck Kramers came with them and they will fit with no mods or work being done.

Value...thats hard, I had a 350 guitar for years that when I finally sold I all but gave away but the V Basses are rather rare...if you were gonna sell it I'd not take less than $600 but don't hope to get much more than $800 or so unless you find someone that HAS to have it...

Thank guys! Question does putting on different tuner pegs take away from the value, I would imagine it would, and How would I find the Orginal Schaller Tuner pegs? I can't seem to find them? Thanks a lot guys.

Yes it would and since the neck is aluminum it will be more work than just getting Schaller tuners...

Awesome, man! You should enter this into the coolest bass contest on here. Look for the thread in this same room.

Re: Kramer Flying V Bass (Aluminum Neck)

The tuners you need are Schaller M4 Bass tuners, 2 + 2...the model is M4 and the 2 + 2 is 2 left and 2 right not the 4 on a side.

This is a link to a place that sells them on line, the 2+2 are on the upper right hand side...

Awesome thanks, been looking everywhere for them! Are these the exact same ones? http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Genuine-SCHALLER-M4-Bass-Tuners-2x2-CHROME-/270744366969

Chris welcome to the forum and sweet axe what year is it? (1979 - 1983) I love Kramers, and yes definitely restore it, I'm sure you will enjoy it! But if you do decided to sell it, let me know! It's nice to have a few more bottom end guys on here.

I remember these aluminum neck Kramers. But I never knew they made a bass with a V body. Very cool.
Good luck restoring it. Vintage Guitar magazine should do a feature on these if they haven't yet. That's a really interesting bass.

By all means restore it. Very Very Cool looking. All the best with the restoration.

Re: Kramer Flying V Bass (Aluminum Neck)

Those things are killer. I saw one in a consignment shop for $500 once, terrific shape. I had about $40 at the time, but at least I got to play it. I'm not an expert on basses by any means, but I get the feeling that I'll look a long time before I find another bass that good for $500.
