Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Hey, Kramer afficianados.... Anyone own or owned a Pacer Carrera?? Ive always loved the blacked out visual, but have never played one.. Im wondering how much diff it would play than my reg Pacer? Im guessing the neck may be alittle stickier due to the finish..? Wondering if the neck shape is similar.

Any other deets? Thanks

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

You would think that it was simply a painted Classic or Banana head neck, which would add a few millimeters to the thickness obviously, but anything more conclusive than that is hit and miss because the production variances back then were all over the place because as you know Kramer out sourced to Sports, Lasido, and ESP. Things didn't get real consistent until ESP took over entirely.

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Just a blacked out Pacer Imperial. What money Berardi didn't waste on booger sugar was fueling the Porsche fascination. The details and naming of that guitar model was a bit of a vanity thing.

I have a Kramer with a painted neck (stagemaster) and if there's a difference, it's negligible.

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Not a Carrera but just got this one today-'83 Pacer Imperial. As to the Necks; unless it's truly raw or oiled...aren't they all painted per se?

Just got it dialed in and tuned. I'll be tweaking it for a few days but oh yeah...I like it. Missed out on a Candy Blue/Green Imperial a few years back and when I saw this one with the Sunburst Finish and clean Maple Neck I figured I'd see if I could cut a deal.

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Gibson isn't doing much with their Kramer line, huh? But at least they are making a few- they had 1 (one!) at NAMM. Better than Tobias or Steinberger.

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Well, even if invited, they wouldn't come by! It is a shame that some once great brands are abandoned.

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Yeah... Kramer was THE brand in the 80s.. (jackson and Charvel and Bc Rich had fingers in the pie too) I remember all the cool ads in the mags of all the Kramers and celebs out the ying yang.. Cool guitars. Dang shame.. In not happy about the minimal attention they are getting now, but am happy to see the brand is back and they are making some decent models.. At least they arent the absolute rubbish that the Kramer name had been reduced to at the end. Plywood guitars made in places no one had heard of with tin foil floyd copies and model names that sounded more like military codes.. Id still love to have a Stagemaster and an old Baretta. And, of course, a black Carrera. But funds and space are not on my side right now..

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

I've wanted one for the longest time but for a pretty silly reason.

I've wanted to have a "Birthday Guitar" and IIRC, those were only made in 1982.

If it's a birthday guitar I figure it's GOTTA be a Kramer, or Jackson, ok maybe even a Charvel :D

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

Sounds like a cool reason for a guitar!! Whats cool for you is that a birthday guitar would be a really cool shred era guit!! If I bought a birthday guitar, Id have to scour the vintage market and pony up huge money.... : (

I made a small bid on the guitar.. was really in nearly mint shape... But was outbid.. Hopefully I can find one in the future when Im alittle more financially able. Still want one and having seen it, got my Pacer out.. Everytime I get this Kramer out, it blows my mind...

Re: Kramer Pacer Carrera?

I was scrolling too fast and I thought this said Kramer Peter Cetera.

Never played a Kramer, although about 15 years ago I went through a phase where I would have done almost anything to get my hands on a Kramer 1984.
