Kramer Pacer Imperial

I spent the better part of this afternoon building the double screw 59N to match the double screw TB4 I made for the bridge. Getting really close to being done and I pitched the biggest tent earlier when I first looked at it.[/ATTACH]!@.jpg!@1.jpg!@2.jpg!@3.jpg!@5.jpg!@4.jpg

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Thanks Gentlemen...
Yea it's called flip-flop pink and the clearcoat has pearl in it which changes color as the light hits it and it's so hard to capture it's effect totally due to it being old and faded and it was an overcast day. When it gets nice out I'll drag them outside and try again.

This is an NOS 1987 body and Im using most all OEM Kramer parts from 87-88 save for these pickups but I may swap them out for other zebras who knows. I almost waited and got a zebra FS set and I may still do that.
The scalloped board was done by me for no real reason aside from the frets seemed rather small and since I wanted to make this guitar unique I went for it. I can always get another righty maple neck and use this neck for a Star body or maybe a Baretta.

I forgot to mention the 59N retained its A5 and the TB4 has an A8 which I tried out in my Model-3 for a few weeks and I like it a lot. The ceramic not so much because it was too bright, the stock A5 was better, a 2xA5 was even better and I need more of those, but this JB8 is nice. I tried it with double hex as well and I liked it in that configuration.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

I like them as well but Im an even bigger fan of big frets so it was the great compromise of '18.

Initially I wanted to build this how you see it now and it's going on 6yrs since I started this project. I got tired of looking and got a rosewood American neck, painted it, re-logo, clearcoat, got a 1988 zebra Full Shred for it and then changed my mind again and sought out another maple which is this one here.

I also sourced a chrome NOS early F serial but I might swap it for a black E serial to make it closer to being correct. The OFR and L2 nut are from a 1988 Kramer.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

I dig the scalloped board, too. My Music Man has one, though I paid someone to do it right. Now I am hooked.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Really nice! Is that a righty neck on a lefty body? I love scalloped necks too, but I am too squeamish to do it on my Kramers. They do get huge frets when they need to be refretted, though!

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Yes its a right handed American Kramer neck. The only reverse headstocks Kramer ever offered to lefties were the Nightswan and a prototype Liberty which never made production and only on example survives, so therefore I had to do what I had to do... hahaha …. so this neck meant nothing to me, but idk if I would scallop my Pacer Deluxe or the Nightswan, leastwise not until I had them refretted because then I probably wouldn't want to.

Appreciate the kind words and glad you guys like it I know I'm excited about it! First guitar with a working neck pickup in probably 15 years atleast so that will be neat to mess with for a minute until Im bored.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

It's a very eye catching guitar and I dig the scalloped neck. Great for string bending galore.;)

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Got it about all finished up yesterday, just gotta do some wiring and drill the mounting ring screws. I was running out of time so I wired it straight to the jack so I could play it for a little bit.
Seems to be settling in and holding tune really well so I'm confident it will be a solid guitar. The A8 TB4 sounds so much better in this than in the Model-3 that I tested it in, so that's good because I had a feeling I was gonna have to get yet another Full Shred just for this one.

Been 6yrs in the making on account of the parts being hard to find and I'm a lazy pos most days and kept forgetting about it. I can scratch this one off my New Year resolution and get after that Seventh Son album and then I'm good for the year.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Thank you much buddy! I got the body from ebay 6yrs ago because I just had to have it and I'm glad I finally saw the project through.
It's probably my new fav right now because it's just that good! I played it for about 5hrs yesterday and it seems to be good to go. Once my coffee is done I'm going to wire this up proper and see what that neck pickup is all about.

daddario 8-38's in E with 2 trem springs as per the usual...

The double screw 59N still has it's A5 in it btw... It will be 1 volume and the 3-way mini only. I'm putting the volume in the Tone-1 slot so it's out of my way and the other pots will be dummies for looks only. Sounds awesome right now so I hope the 500K pots doesn't mess with the tone too much cause I really like it right now despite the lack of volume control. I told Clint that if the 500k sucks I might go 3-way mini with a kill toggle and be done with it.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

I’m really curious about the A8 JB.
I still haven’t ordered one!
The JB in my Ibby sounds damn good, but I hear so many positive reviews of the A8.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

Im typically not a fan of a stock JB, but I do like the Holdsworth and double fillister JB so in a sense I replicated that initially but I used a ceramic at first which was way too bright. Leastwise in the basswood Model-3. I then tried double rows of hex screws, and then I swapped the A5 back in it which was better than the ceramic, and then finally the A8 with the fillisters which you see here.

The A8 and 2xA5 are really nice magnets given the right application and I'm thrilled with mine so you should do yourself the honor and get some when you get a chance.

Re: Kramer Pacer Imperial

I have a double screw 59/Custom Hybrid- I really like it!
