Krank Chadwick Head

I have the chance to pickup a Krank Chadwick. Brand New. Its the original single channel version. $570.00. Any opinions?

I'd do it just to sell it for a profit!

I've heard they sound really good clean - don't buy into the bad rap Krank gets. They're really awesome amps, the stock cabinets just have crap speakers, and the Krankenstein is rather craptastic, too.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. I couldn't find any price points though. Most, if not all, of the closed eBay auctions were for the new 2 channel heads.

Any ideas guys?

Yep, I played though it twice. Great sounding amp. Very Marshall sounding to my ears. Very loud.

Yeah, the only reason they're going cheap is because they replaced it with the 2 channel version, and it was Krank's lowest seller. Still, they make really good amps. Sort of the same quality Marshall was doing in the 70's and 80's.

A guy used to work at my office who sang in a band with the Chadwick guy that designed the Cadwick amp here in the Phoenix, AZ area. Oddly enough, the band he founded (The Chadwicks) continued on without him, even though he was the namesake. True story.

I haven't had the chance to play one but a number of artists I like use them and I like their sound. What I really like about it is the growl and knock they have. They don't sound like a lot of the massive cascaded gain monsters out there.

Yes, I agree. Alot of gain on tap, but not buzzy gain.

I don't know what sound your trying to get but the krankenstein has the best metal tone imo of not only the krank amps but all the amps I’ve tried. I've played through 2 uberschalls, a krank revolution, voodoo modded dsl100, a framus cobra a triple X and a jsx. Krankenstein just has the tone nailed down and the sweep function gives you so many options as far as the distortion is concerned.
