Kurt Cobain gear on sappy?

Not the most complex tone but I really like the guitar tones on Sappy, to me it sounds cleaner and more jangly then most of the tones form In Utero less thick and middy (I'm talking the box set and in Utero dlx version) It kind of sounds a little more single coily to me especially the clean and solo. Possibly a mustang or strat? Twin?

Sappy? What's that?

I remember I once built a faithful Kobain replica of the "Vandalism" sticker strat he's often in pictures with, since it turned out I had all the necessary parts anyway, and had thematic modding fever....plus the Jagstang thing always annoyed me because it wasn't something he got around to playing much (if ever?), and was just blatant merchandising cashing in on a dead guy's name

Fender strat, black w/rosewood
His choice of pickups:
DiMarzio H-3 Bridge bucker, Texas Special singles

Replicates Nirvana sounds effortlessly. I think it's all in the pickups and minimalism with effects, pretty much drive an amp and done for the most part

Not a Twin. IIRC Kurt used a Crown Power amp with a Mesa Boogie pre-amp. He was also a fan of Roland and BOSS Distortion. I think In Utero was the DS-1.

Remember, there's Kurt's live guitar sound, and then there's his album guitar sound.

Yeah I know all of that I'm particularly talking Sappy the version recorded during In Utero sessions. https://youtu.be/zknlwXuGJUg the box set mix. I doubt it was the mesa and crown power amp that was very much a live thing. You can hear the guitar doesn't have the dullness clean like alot of in Utero (rape me, dumb etc)

Nirvana tone is a simple cocktail.

Any loud, clean amp, a Small Clone and a DS-1, and any Fendery single coily guitar. Maybe use a Fendery humbuckery for the heavier songs.

The tone he gets on those demos sound like a Twin, a DS1 and a Jaguar or Mustang to me.

Yeah cheers I might try my jaguar through my mates twin see what I can get. My amp seems to work for the studio stuff especially nevermind (mainly because it's often a blend off a mesa and a bassman with a think an ac30 for clean stuff) but this tone is different at least for me to that nevermind stuff.
