Kustom Double Cross

I did a search and didn't find but a few mentions of this amp. I played through this last night and was really blown away at not only what all and how versatile this amp was but how well it did it. James Brown designed this head with Kustom and I read was recently featured in a documentary about the evolution of amps and where they are today(I haven't seen it yet though.).

Kustom Double Cross Demo Video Featuring Amp Designer James Brown

Here are some of the metal/rock styled samples for the lazy that don't like reading.

First, here's Lead II:

The gain sounds pretty high and tight alvarez. I find if the amp is a high gainer and isn't of a good quality sound it will wear on the ear. That sounds pretty good imo.

Mr. Brown speaks well in the vid. Bit of a hefty price tag though.

Re: Kustom Double Cross

I believe the street price is $1500 or so. I paid 1800 for my Dual Rec 3 years ago, So I was actually surprised the price was lower than I thought it would be. hmmm....

Re: Kustom Double Cross

Any one else tried these? Checked one out on Fleabay at $1500 and alot of nice features and supposed to be well designed by the dude that did the 5150iii.
Looks like it has 6 power tubes. couldnt cound preamps from the pics.

Real curious

Re: Kustom Double Cross

that thing's got some nice features and a good, tight sound. I like the lead II voicing.

Re: Kustom Double Cross

I think it's a great amp.

If I hadn't picked up my Carvin V3, I was saving for a Double Cross.

They are still hard to find locally though.

Re: Kustom Double Cross

I think I'd be happy with just the Rhythm and the Lead II channels. I'm not big on the scooped sound of the Lead I channel. Seems like a really cool amp though. So many cool amps out there that I'll never own... :(

Im gonna have to check these clips from home

Re: Kustom Double Cross

There was one at the local Music-go-round here about a month ago or so.
I didn't get to try it.
But, some other dude was jamming on it. Sounded killer to me.
Needless to say, the next time I got in there, it was gone.
