All right my patna' in riffage and meltdown has this weird belief in ss heads, I know, I know, how dare I, a tube-brother allow him even to think that, but oh well... he is considering the one below, the thing is, with me blasting my Laney AOR 50 watt and the rest of the band which ideally in the future should also have keyboards besides bass and drumms will this thing hold up any clarity and tone when cranked up to be heard with the rest of the band on par ??? Anybody used Kustoms live stack live on regular basis ???

Re: Kustom Half Stack, reviews ???

if I were to go SS for a band situation, and if I were worried about being loud enough, I wouldn't go lower than 300W solid state, as in Randall.

having said that, even 75-watts outta my crate power block seems very loud, and would probably work live with a 4-12". I don't know how they did it, but they made solid state LOUD with that little bugger.

My friend plays solid state all the time in band situations, 100 watts of it. 100 solid state can keep up with 50 watts of tube from my experiance.

DankStar,
So basically what you are saying that everybody else are light years behind Randallin solid states, and if you want to keep up without worries live with a full band you just have to have wattage backup ???

oh no, I just meant Randall popped into my head as being a manufacturer of amps that have enough solid state wattage that being heard in a loud band situation would not be a concern. 100W or 150W would probably work, but it sure didn't with my 100-watt Marshall valvestate back in the day. I've steered clear of the 100-watt range of solid state for band situations ever since. I even used a Boogie 50-watter that could't keep up with a loud band (the single rectifier). When I say the band was loud, I mean the bassist was almost deaf, and turned up so loud it about drowned out the band in the next room. That's what I had to compete with!
