This is a little project guitar I recently completed.
For years, I've wanted the rockin' roar of a thin mahogany Gibson SG but I just can't deal with the "neck-heavy" balance problems.
One day I was looking at a Gibson L6-S and noticed it's very thin like the SG and a lightbulb glowed inside my head!
Why not make an L6-S out of mahogany and while I'm at it, make a 22 fret, 25 1/2" scale neck?!
The guitar balances perfectly on a strap!
The rest is history!
The pickups are Seymour Duncan Custom V at the bridge, and a '59 at the neck.
When I routed the body, I moved the bridge pickup cavity forward 1/4" to get a meatier lead tone.
I got the plain chrome covers from Allparts and I'd be lying if I said they had any adverse effect on the tone.
If you close your eyes and open your ears, it's Angus Young all the way baby!
