Just ordered a 8H/6H Wilde L90 set.

Also got 2 500k Dimarzio Push/pull pots, 2 Dimarzio 500k tone pots,
USA Switchcraft jack, and new Gibson speed knobs for my '84 Les Paul Custom.

I'll let you know how they sound :naughty:

Sweet!! I've always been curious about his offerings aside from the L500 series but was always too afraid to take the plunge.

Re: L90's Inbound.

Should have said something...I have a set of REAL L-90's from the 70's for sale on the trading post right now plus I'm also in Atlanta!

BTW, if you want to know what they sound like listen to old Aerosmith!

Re: L90's Inbound.

I thought they were like P90s... Now I'm really interested in them

in terms of output how are they?

L500XL are super bright, are L90s in that same ball park?

Well I got the 8 Henry and 6 Henry combo, so they should be pretty high output.
But as you know, Lawrence pickups are clear as day.
They have been described as the "warmer cousin" of the 500 series.

Outside of output/gain, I've heard that they're SUPER loud as well.

They have little in common with the L-500's to my ears...

L-90's are very crunchy in a rock kind of way, great chord sound and violin lead tones too.

They are rather high output but not in the traditional overwound way...they have a huge magnet structure and classic Lawrence clarity.

Listen to old Aerosmith...Joe and Brad both used L-90 buckers and Joe used the old L-220 single coils as well...anything after the first album up until the band fell apart the first time.

Dang, this is making me way to put my L-90's back in something!

Re: L90's Inbound.

Badass! I'm looking forward to the tone report. I'm not sure what, but based on looks alone, I have to put a set of those in SOMETHING.

Re: L90's Inbound.

Well....?
Have ou formed an opinion yet?
I have an L-90 in the neck of an H-S-H guitar and like it.

Re: L90's Inbound.

These pups are ridiculous.

Super clear and transparent, yet warm at the same time (unlike the 500 series, which remains relatively bright at all times).

Talk about violin-like lead tone! So smooth.

Can't wait to play 'em through my RedBear.
