I'm sure there is a thread on this but I couldn't see it.
What's the verdict on the Alumitones? Or other Lace pu's?

Yeah. if you do go with the Alumitones, I'd get a Deathbucker for the bridge and a standard for the neck. The standard Alumitones can be too thin in the bridge slot and the Deathbucker helps to fix that. It's not as metal oriented as one might think, and between the standard neck and Deathbucker bridge, you can cover anything from heavy metal to jazz to country and disco. It's a very versatile set.

I like the Deathbucker. Don't know about the singles.

I have a Deathbar bridge and an X-bar neck on a seven string modified Chapman Rob Scallon .
It is gorgeous , dead silent , and you can achieve all kind of sound .
These are powerful but very clear and dynamic pickups , broad EQ , the split mode is remarquable as you keep the same output , with a less fat sound .
On this guitar all wood and bone , which sounds like heaven unplugged , it is a miracle : the sound is so beautiful that I use a lot less gain .
On a cheap luthery those pickup are probably less interesting as they are transparent , they won't hide the metallic garbage .
