Laney IRT studio recording problem

hi folks,

so I have the Laney IRT studio. Been playing a bunch using the headphone output and it sounds fine. When I try to record using direct USB to Garange Band it sounds really fuzzy and crappy and not like the headphone output at all.

Any tips or hints how to fix this?

Thank you! :)

Re: Laney IRT studio recording problem

It outputs in two channels. One is a di track and one is the processed signal. Pretty sure the left is the processed. If your daw won't let your choose which channel, it'll blend the two and sound like ****. Just use a better daw. I'd recommend audacity. It's limited, but it's free and it works. Best of luck!

hey, thank you! figured it out.

i select the processed channel for left and right and also on the back of the amp there is a button "emulation". it has to be switched on too, if it does it sounds fizzy.

The fizzy track can be useful, try getting a cabinet emulator plugin and running it through that. Impulse Responses [IR] are far better for cabinet modelling than typical analog cab sims.

It can be an endless rabbithole, but something like LePou LeCab [free cabinet simulator plugin] with a cabinet IR to your taste can get great results.
