Re: Laney Pro Tube- Eminence Swamp Thang part II

Your Playing is great as useall. :) But I think this clip lacked lower mids or
the full bodied tone of the last one? Ironically I have a Epi V to. :laugh2:
My V is acousticly bright and the Pearly Gates in the bridge makes it worse.
I get way to much upper mid sizzzle Even with a 250k pot. ( I got to try a
AP2 in the bridge) When I play my Strat or 335 into my Laney it sounds
great! But my V only sounds good in my Champ 12 or the JTM 45 I'm
babysitting for my Cousin. It has no fullness in my Princeton or Laney?

Re: Laney Pro Tube- Eminence Swamp Thang part II

That is likely the master EQ, me ears were a bit fried when I threw this up. I will tinker soon, one can never replicate....lol I will toss another up and see if I can find the exact settings from the last clip.

Hey Kev I am trying to listen but I just get some soundclick popups :saeek:

SC is indeed a finicky beast, do you allow pop ups from them? It seems to be working for me, but I have my puter set to always allow pop ups from them....

KMC here is a slightly tweaked master EQ, mic was not in the exact same spot as that other clip which may also be the issue.

Yeah behind the "funny" eq that thing sounds great:D

LOL, it is always the fight with what the mic takes out with these analog methods. :smack: After listening to Dokken Back For The... it put me in a brighter place.

I have lots of sompression options and that is where much of the tone tweaks come from. I just tried a tube compressor patch, lets see how that sounds.

Kev, Don't sweat it Bro. :) I'm a total spaze when it comes to EQ and Compression. :smack: My last Clip session I recorded over a dozen
clips of my Laney,JTM and Princeton. I was running a Comp. in the FX
loop of my tascam B4 it hit the soundcard. It was WAAAAY to Hot ! :duh:
Out of all them tracks I only got 1 keeper. (And my playing wasn't to
special on it  )

LOL. I actually find it much easier when there are drums and bass. With a brand new machine it just takes time to find the voice. Also the differences between puter speakers is amazing to me. Hi frequencies sound different with every desktop speaker I hear, some are just crispy as hell.

What Epi V do you have? Mine is a couple years old and is the not as cool 67 RI when compared to the new beautiful white one they just released. Love those guitars

My V is believe it or not a...GOTH ! :13: :laugh2: I got a good deal on
it so I couldn't pass on it. I sanded the black paint off right away ,And
put the Block inlay's in myself ( I couldn't resist putting a Gibson TRC
on it) I'm still not 100% sure what kinda wood it is? it's super light,
very pourus like mahogany and looks like Korina(limba) But i doubt it
is. And like I mentioned it is very bright sounding?? Here's some Pics
of my V and Laney. My Laney w/t 73' Strat Over compressed LOL !!

Rotten, it is the very top one What's a V-fer (I think it is called.....) The links are working on my end, I have a musicmatch player here. Perhaps that may be the issue. Let me know if it is still an issue. http://www.soundclick.com/pro/default.cfm?BandID=105573&content=music

KMC. NICE WORK!! Very impressed with the look of that guitar. Those inlays really do a ton. I also put on a Gibby truss cover. Really makes a big difference in the look. The clip ain;t too bad at all. I have a sub woofer system and it sounds much more like my normal stereo. Nice edge of crunch sound. From that small pic I think we have a decent amount of differeneces on our amps layout. Mine had no .01, lots of .02 a big .1. With that 4th tube vs my 3 my board is defiantely a bit more full of toys. I can only imagine what the 8 knob version looks like!! How close is yours to a JCM 800? Many folks say the same tweaks work for both.

When I 1st got it. It was almost a dead on JCM 800. Your tweaks Killed
off some of the 80's Judas Preist tone and gave it more a 70's Thin lizzy
Crunch.:D Those 2 green Mylar .01mF soldered together Can't be stock?
That's why I'd love to get my hands on a schematic for this. The red
box cap is a .1mF. I changes some of the green .022 w/t orange drops.
The clip is from a few months ago B4 any mods.Sounds a ton better now.
THANKS ! :) The High channel Does a pretty good Molly Hatchet
crunch now.

Now I understand what you wrote from your pic. That is a quite a dramatic mod  someone had big dreams with that amp when they tied those caps together. Nothing wrong with a little Thin Lizzy tone!!

Re: Laney Pro Tube- Eminence Swamp Thang part II

Very articulate sounding setup.. nice chops too! :) It's a little brighter than what I usually hear from you.
Thanks for sharing bro.
