Lapsteel Wiring HELP!!!!!

Hi guys, I know I don't get on here much----well, hardly ever really---but I could do with a bit of help.

I've just made a Lapsteel and I can't find a wiring diagram for what I want to do.

It's got a single neck, Humbuck bridge, 1 vol, 2 tones, 3 way toggle switch.

I'm not splitting the HB, so it's basically fairly simple. I thought each Pup to it's own Tone, then to Vol, through the 3 way switch?? Open to suggestions though.

Cheers.

Re: Lapsteel Wiring HELP!!!!!

Please will you confirm that, by "3 way toggle switch", you mean the sort of selector switch associated with Gibson electric guitars (Switchcraft) rather than either a Fender-type lever (CRL), its SE Asian equivalent (YM-30, CorTek et cetera) or a DP3T on/on/on or on/off/on mini switch.

In any case, I would be tempted to suggest a variation on the Telecaster circuit EXCEPT that you omit the connection between the Tele circuit's volume and tone pots. Instead, feed the signals to the individual tone pots from the same selector switch contacts as the respective pickups.

Hi Funkfingers,
Yep, that's the one, as on Les Paul's, not Fender. That's one of the problems I've come across, I can't find a diagram showing using that type.
Cheers.

Re: Lapsteel Wiring HELP!!!!!

I would start with this ...

http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2h_1v_2t_3w

... and ignore the fact that the neck PU in the schematic is a humbucker rather than a single coil.

The only thing that might go wrong is the phase relationship between the two pickups. In that case, simply reverse the hot and ground conductors of one pickup.

NOTE: The SD schematic assumes that the toggle selector is a genuine Switchcraft rather than one of the SE Asian immitations. The import switch contact layout may be slightly different.

Ok, that's great, thanks.
I've also just found this one-------http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WD2HH3T12_00?fl=~ge_p_diagram_print&wrapper=plain

Cheers.
