Lari Basilio playing SD pick ups!

Re: Lari Basilio playing SD pick ups!

I have and love the Five Two for Strat. It is a seriously under-hyped pickup- they sound so good, but you don't hear about them much.

How would you describe them and how do they compare with SSL-1s?

Re: Lari Basilio playing SD pick ups!

the wound strings are very similar to the ssl1, the plain strings are a little warmer/rounder. i only have a bridge model 5/2 but i like it a lot. softens the sharp highs on a vintage strat bridge pup a touch

This would be my description, too!

I will add...none of the stuff I don't like about vintage Strat pickups (icepicy highs) but you still keep that 'thwap' in the bass (the 'piano' sound).

That was sweet! Nice licks. The 5/2 is yet another pup I have laying around here somewhere that I haven't tried yet. I believe she may have inspired me to install it.

Do it! The Five Two is remarkable, and one of my favorite true single coils.
