Last P90 question

Once again, the guitar is a 3 P90 model, I'm going to go Custom bridge and vintage or hot neck. Could I use a Superswitch and stacked P90 in the middle to get:

1.Bridge
2.Bridge + one coil of middle stack
3.Bridge + Neck
4.Neck + one coil of the middle stack
5.Neck

Would that give me hum cancelling quack in 2 and 4? Or should I just get a normal middle pickup and live with the hum in 3 positions? (I need the bridge + neck combo, and that will be hum cancelling)

Re: Last P90 question

I think it's doable, but you might get either no sound or a weird sound when you go to use the bottom coil of that stack.

The only noiseless P-90 that's side by side is the Dimarzio Virtual P90.

Personally, I think the cool tones are worth a bit of noise. :)

I was really afraid of noise, since I always had humbuckers- after I replaced my stacked P-100s, not only did I not notice the noise, but I didn't care. The only time it's ever been a problem is at a friend's studio where he was using his H&K head with the gain dimed.

Re: Last P90 question

Yeah, noise isn't too bad with quality singles. All of my single coils are real singles and I have never had a problem with excessive noise, and none of my guitars (strats, teles, Sheraton with Phat Cats) have any extra shielding.

Re: Last P90 question

Listen to the notes - not the hum! And a P-90 can kick out some righteous fat and cutting tones!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Last P90 question

I think I'll go Bridge/Neck/Neck so I can get noise free N+B and M+B. I just noticed that Mike Ness only uses Hots and Johnny Wickersham uses Vintage so I'm thinking H/V/H or H/V/V. 21 Day return policy, right? ;)

OK... Which board merchant wants to sell me some cream SD P90s? :D
