Dunno why but I've been on a building spree lately. Lots of fun, to me they're basically model-airplanes for musicians.
I build everything on PCBs I etch at home unless they're very simple builds, which go on perfboard...
Here are a few:
Orange squeezer compressor. This one will be rehoused and sent to Andrew Lamprecht. Nice effect but too subtle for me. No need for the second knob either, onboard trimpot is definitely the way to go, keeping only the Level as an exterior knob.
Second, Boss CE-2 clone. Sounds so similar to my MIJ one that I can't tell the difference. I modded this one with a vibrato switch (preventing the dry signal from getting back into the mixed signal if I need a vibrato instead of chorus) and wired it so the led pulses along with the speed of the effect. Pretty cool finish IMHO: brushed aluminium painted with transparent blue finish (Duplicolor metal-cast). The labels wrinkled a bit due to a new clear coat, which I won't be using again.... The final look is hard to photograph but very deep and 3d looking.
Next: Tremolo based on the EA trem design. Some parts switched here and there for a more pronounced effect. Again, led pulsing in sync with effect speed. Same finish as the Chorus but in red.
Last for this week: same trem built for a good friend in montreal... Hammertone paint on top with sides sanded for a smooth finish.
Hope some of you enjoy...
