Lava Box Review

Anyone pick up the latest edition of Guitar Player Mag? It has the review of the Lava Box in it and aparently it got a Guitar Player's Editors Pick award. I'm in need of a new dirt box for a good crunch (and I think I'm gonna get a keeley modded TS808 in the near future) so I am wondering about this - trying to get into pedals a little bit more. Thanks bros

Re: Lava Box Review

Yeah, I read that. Did you notice how the reviews seemed very "real"? In other words, they weren't hesitating to point out flaws in other stuff.

+1 for more info about the Lava Box.... and how about some freaking sound clips :D

Re: Lava Box Review

I'm kind of torn on it. While it does respond in a very amplike manner, and I am a big fan of the 6 position switch, the tone is lacking something for me. It's similar to a DS-1 to me in the sense that it's nice for leads, but I really like other pedals and my amp better for rhythm. I was hoping it would be closer to a Red Llama due to the CMOS output stage, but alas... These are only my inital impressions, I'll post more when I can really crank the amp and dig in a bit more.

Re: Lava Box Review

its a great phat sounding pedal, it doesnt thin out your tone. the only complaint i have is that it can sound honky.
