Lawson hollowbody guitars: Worth it?

I saw these on Craigslist listed for $175 each. Think it's worth picking up one of 'em for a project guitar?

I think if I did the biggest thing I'd worry about is whether or not either guitar has a trussrod, and the condition of the necks. I do think the white one is nice, though. (Picturing one w some SD Phat Cats in it.)

So what do you think? Is it worth getting one, or should I just fuhgetaboutit?

EDIT:

I think for a 175 bucks...that's a decent price for a project guitar. I'm gonna go check one out Saturday....hahahahahaha...

No, they're just made too cheap & sloppy, both parts & workmanship. Very disapponting. They're strictly entry-level. Just a waste of time. Look for a used hollowbody that sells for at least $300 to $400 new (retail, not list). They make a much better project guitar.

I'd be surprised if they weren't. I'm still gonna check 'em out. (It's not a case of ordering blindly online. I'll try these before I think about buying one.)

If the neck is straight and the frets don't buzz too badly, I might bite. Either way, this is more of that direct order stuff. And TBH I won't find these in a lefty model from other manufacturers.

(Worse case I'll fix it up and give it to a fellow lefty that wants to learn).

So...no one's ever tried these?

PS: I will be going to GC prior to visiting this guy today. Sad thing...they really don't stalk any lefties there beyond a Squier Strat. (Hell, I'd love to try an SG or a Dot or something....but they don't stock that stuff.)

There was a fella in dallas importing them. They weren't bad for what he was asking, but certainly not something that I'd rock on stage, or studio for that matter. In my opinion, it was a 150 dollar wall decoration.

Yes, I did. Low price so I bought a Lawson hollowbody on a whim. Once I opened the box I could see why. Terrible workmanship. Sloppy finish. Cheapest materials imaginable. Just junk. Nothing there to salvage. I'd be embarrassed to be seen with it. Strictly for kids, no adult would own one. I couldn't sell it fast enough. I'm used to Epi's, and that Lawson made my Epi's look like they were hand-made from the Gibson Custom Shop.

Well...there it is.

I'm glad this is an account of one. Now I'll know just to cancel out the app't. Thanks....

(Hell, it's not like I don't have enough cheap guitars anyway...heheheheh...)

There's a cut-off level, below which the manufacturer scrimps on everything, and doesn't care how bad they are, because at that price no one can expect to get any kind of quality. Look for a deal on a used mid-priced import, that's what I do. You'll get much more for your money. I've gotten some amazing deals on nice guitars; they don't happen everyday, but keep watching and they will pop up. I see left-handed guitars on eBay, so they're out there.

I have to admit this one's been tempting me for a while...even though that's a lot of money for a used Casino....

He's asking too much, but Casino's are great guitars and if you like hollowbodies, you should have one. I think the neck/body juncture is at the 17th fret, so you get more neck to work with.

Re: Lawson hollowbody guitars: Worth it?
