LED Sidemarker Project (pics)

Here are a few pics of a project I'm working on...I have a few crappy neck but with decent fretboards, so I thought I would have a little fun :)

I'm still working on it, so it's all pretty raw and unfinished. I took of the fretboard from my neck, then had to wait for the LEDs to come in. They look orange with a white center in the pics, but they are a nice solid red color.

Once the fretboard was off and I had the LEDs, I drilled out the side markers and then drilled small routes on the bottom side of the fretboard. Then I roughly fit the leds into them so they would be held in with their own lip. Once that was done, I wired up all the LEDs/resistors and put them back in place. Then I took two solid wires and used those to connect the LEDs together and finally to the switch. There's probably a better way to do it, but that's what I did off the top of my head. I'm gonna have to go over each wire with liquid electrical tape though, so they don't touch/short out.

So now, I gotta route each position a little cleaner so the LEDs fit nicely into each one (the added resistor makes it bigger) and then I'll glue them in place...

ham salad.

I mean... fricken ham salad.

LED side markers are cool. I know a lot of the guys here dont particularly care for the, but I had a show last saturday on a dark stage, with a mahogany neck guitar with very small fret markers. It wasn't hard, but made me a little less sure of myself. LED fret markers can be useful in certain situations.
