Hi. When i bought ssl1's earlier, they were only avail as a set. I'm using something dif in the bridge so i have a ssl1 left over. My question is---this pickup was gonna be designated bridge if i used it as a set. When i sell this pickup should i list it as a bridge pickup or are they the same?

It's very slightly overwound, so it would be nice to mention. I think you can find the thread it was discussed about with the search.

I have the bridge model, and the regular SSL-1 both in neck humbucker rout in one of my strats. I don't remember which one was the bridge model and can't really tell by the tone. It's so close the placement makes more difference there.

EDIT: I did the search and found out I forgot to respond in that thread I remembered, so it's now on the front page.

Re: Left over ssl1 pickup

The SSL-1 set consists of one RWRP and two regular pickups. To the best of my knowledge, the bridge isn't overwound . . . it's just a bog standard SSL-1.

From the SD website:
"This three pickup set includes a standard wound neck and bridge pickup, and an RWRP, reverse wind reverse polarity, middle pickup for noise cancellation in the in-between positions."

Yep, afaik they're all the same, right around 6.5k , just like the actual 50's Strats, but the middle is reverse wound.

Maybe they are now like website says?

Riley confirmed in that other thread they did made separate bridge SSL-1 at some point.

:dunno:

Re: Left over ssl1 pickup

You can get an overwound bridge model. The best thing for the OP is to just list the measured DC if you decide to sell.

Re: Left over ssl1 pickup

For what it is worth, I have an older SSL-1 that measures just over 7k

they are really more like an early 60's pup than anything else fender put out, but they are a great pup

Didn't they call the early model SSL-5 that they made for David Gilmour an SSL-1c? That might be the cause of the confusion.

That's entirely different design though. Not "slightly overwound" SSL-1b as was supposed.

Mine does say SSL-1b on bottom, and sounds just the same as the standard one though.

Maybe it's just red herring.
