Length of wire for LP neck pickup?

What is the minimum length of wire(s) needed for a neck position pickup on a Les Paul? Will 8" be enough?

I don't have my LP with me to check, but I don't think 8" will be long enough. Like Jeremy said, you can extend it if you need to. I've used four-conductor+shield cable for this purpose. If you have two-conductor cable on your pickup, it's even easier.

No. 8 inches is roughly the straight line distance from the pickup and volume control. The routing in an LP can vary, but it is hardly ever straight line.

I recommend 11" to 12". It's easier to cut a too-long lead than extend a short one.
