Les Lius Experience?

Re: Les Lius Experience?

Had one, dug it pretty well...It had some impedance issues that made it not great for me all the time but for many players it's a non issue.

Sort of wish I'd kept mine at time.

Re: Les Lius Experience?

I know everything about that pedal, even though Ive never had one, or heard one. Ya know, stuff I've read on the internet. :D

Re: Les Lius Experience?

I watched the PGS demo and they appear to sound awesome, but I could probably buy another SF Champ for what those pedals cost now.

Re: Les Lius Experience?

They LL isn't that bad at all price wqise...in fact I htink they've come down a bit in recent months.

There is an original gold one on ebay right now for $175 OBO and a cream PGS version for $140 BIN...

Recent ended auctions are:

120
140
175
149
130
175
140
165

That's not too bad...some of them are less than what I paid and less than what I sold it for.

Re: Les Lius Experience?

It does sound pretty good on video. How does it sound in person? It's it actually close to a real tweed 5E3/Twin crunch tone or does it leave you wanting the real thing?

It's a good sounding pedal but it is a pedal...Teh mode switch is cool and does make a difference over the 3 positions.

It's rather dynamic in terms of of cleaning up with your guitars volume...

Here is a clip of me using it in the band setting...it's a handy cam video so it's not the greatest but maybe it'll give you an idea...

I'm using my Cleveland 1950 Single Cut into a 62 brown Deluxe and the Les Lius is on the whole time...clean by turning down OD by turning up...

I didn't use the higher gain setting here at all...and the amp was set dead clean due to a VERY small stage and a LOT of people on it!

Re: Les Lius Experience?

I had one. It was cool. It did not do much that i could not coax out of other overdrive pedals tho.

Cool Tune TG!

Re: Les Lius Experience?

Frank Lee thinks they sell those every once in a while at PGS somewhere in the $150 range. Perhaps He is wrong but (as always) that is unlikely.

Lee had one and liked it. Should have kept it. Much less tweakable than the Wampler Tweed but IFLHO it sounded better and was more fun.

Thank you.

Re: Les Lius Experience?

Quite a good pedal I'd say. I also had one, and let it go you know. It is not "that" similar, but I kinda preferred Xotic EP due to its more V type of eq...

BTW, I think that the "tweed" thing is just marketing. Don't give in to the hype man... It is a quite good drive pedal, and has a specific thing going in the mids... But still, even a Blues Jr. with this pedal, does not sound "that" close to a Tweed Deluxe.

And... also check out Lovepedal's AMP50. That one is also quite nice, and sounds a bit different yet may make those who are into the "Marshall" thing more happy...

Re: Les Lius Experience?

I've still got mine.

The honeymoon is over but I still think it's a cool pedal. The thing is a little edgy and grating in the 5e3 mode and i don't think it sound like an exploding 5e3 but it's nice to just boost my amp with and have... an exploding drri with tweed-ish midrange . Twin mode has better bass and headroom but again through a DRRI it leaves me wanting the real thing.

Is this one legit?

The seller has two of them, but different model numbers. I thought these were "hand made" but that gut shot looks like a mass produced product. This one here even has an inspected by sticker on the pcb http://bit.ly/SYFzQK

I ask because I noticed there are clones of this thing out there and can't help but wonder if there's fakes on eBay.

I just watched one go in auction for over $160.

Re: Les Lius Experience?

yep. everything looks spot on.
but i bought one exactly like that (before the stamp wore off) brand new for 159 last year. It was a special run at that price for PGS.

The crazy thing is the auction I just lost went for $162 but the seller initially had it up there as a BIN for $130. No one bought it so he switched to auction format and got over $30 more? Weird.
