Les Paul and Stratocaster

Re: Les Paul and Stratocaster

The Paul with single coils, hands down. Fenders with humbuckers sound cool, but to me, Les Pauls with single coils are the best sounding electric guitars ever made, in general. Pre-'57-style gold-tops and Customs; there's nothing like 'em!

If they're the same single coils as the ones on Paul Gilbert's Ibanez Fireman, slanted at the same angle, I'd take the LP.

Re: Les Paul and Stratocaster

I am assuming that James meant Strat type single coils and typical/conventional humbuckers. That would rule out P-90s, P-Rails, mini hums, Filtertrons, StagMags, etc.

If that's the case, I'd pick Strat with humbuckers any day. A LP with Strat type singles just sounds anemic.

If my primary assumption is incorrect, then either with P-90s is great and, thus, either with P-Rails would be the only logical choice.
