les paul + brobucker + a3?

a lot of it is perspective, if you are used to a sh6b the brobucker might seem bright, if you are used to a sh1b, then the brobucker might seem dark. to me, it has good output and sounds good clean or dirty for my blues rock noodling

I haven't tried a Brobucker either, but I like medium-output pickups. As long as it doesn't sound too bright, I'd dig it.

See Jeremy, in either my 57’ LP or in my Dean Hardtails, the Brobucker seemed a bit wooly and dark, even with upgraded 500K pots and .0015 caps. I think an A3 would be a significant difference from the stock degaussed A5. An A4 might even be better. Your ears may vary though.

I think an A2 “might” be darker yet, but it only takes you 5 minutes to find out anyhow.

I do have a custom forged A2 that is meant for a bridge pickup of a Rewind Electric set. It’s supposed to be brighter than standard A2’s, if we can really tell any difference in different A2 mags.

I’d be happy to send it to you to try out if you’d like.

What is this brobucker you speak of? 🤔
Limited run?
It was originally a run SD did for the user group. It was a very long time ago, 2006 if memory serves. It was the original "group designed" model. We got particularly rowdy over the idea of an overwound PAF. They said if they got enough orders they would build them and they did. 10k, aged A5 mag. They were covered, but "lightly potted" and you could get the spacing you wanted. I think they subsequently added them to the custom shop menu.

Yeah, it may be one you have to know about to ask for.

If memory serves, Brobucker, Fuglybucker, and StraBro90 are the forum CS pickups, and the 59/C and C5 were both made into production models because of common forum mods

Oh ok. I used to have an account on here back around 2006 or 7( didnt post much) I remember guys swapping coils on pickups and stuff. Seemed more involved than I cared to get into.
I take it the Bro...part stands for forum brothers?

Yes

I built a few custom/59 mixed coil pickups back then
