Its not a Junior... Jr's have one pickup. Someone stuck a Jr cover on that thing, but it ain't a Jr.

What I think it might be is an LP special that they made a few years ago... I do recall the flat top two pickup thing being a regular model. No idea what they called it, or if that's a good price or anything else.

That's exactly what it is. I think they were out maybe around 2000-2005 or so. Don't quote me on the years though. They're on ebay all of the time.

It is what it is really. Just kind of an entry level Gibson guitar. They might almost be up to par with a Gibson Les Paul Studio Mahogany model, but you really never know until you play it. It could be totally amazing or a total hunk of junk. It's just a no frills Gibson guitar per se. That seems like a pretty good deal though, especially if you could talk them down to $450.

Read the headstock decal. "Les Paul SPECIAL".

As has already been pointed out, the "Junior" truss rod cover is a non-original part. Juniors are Gibson's most basic models. The truss rod cover plate is normally plain. No script of any description.

Once upon a time, the Gibson's use of the model name Special indicated all-mahogany, twin P90s. The CL guitar could have been modified to twin HBs.

That is a recently manufactured LP special.

They came like this but aiming for a beaten up LP Studio is usually the better option. These are very plain boards.

I liked the one I played. Kind of like a slightly thicker, less snappy SG. Not a bad plank at all, as long as it resonates.

Yep, it's an LP Special. A buddy of mine has a few of them, faded and gloss, and they're pretty cool little guitars. They have a 498T in the bridge, and a 490R at the neck.
