Les paul pickup suggestions please

Re: Les paul pickup suggestions please

Cheers, oh well like i said im looking forward to seeing what the burst buckers are like. I've heard nothing but good reviews

I wouldn't go for BB's (and I'd rather forget BBpro's all the ones I tried were too bright, too thin you know), they are good pickups if you are lucky, YET expensive. Instead for almost the same price (+ some minor change) you can get antiquities or seths from Blackrose. Well those are a sure bet!

Well im trying the burstbuckers not because im buying some, but because they are coming with my new guitar as stock pickups. So ill give em a go.

Then of course by all means give them a fair chance by using them for some time to get acquinted. If you get a historic then just like many others you might fall in love with them, if they match the wood. The same goes for BBpros on standards.

I know a guy in Melbourne (Tony Imrek)

Duncan... does Tony Imrek have a brother Robert and sister Vanessa?
I am from Europe and I had (long ago) a friend by that name.
Maybe it's him since I know he's there?

Duncan hasn't posted here in 8 months. This is an OLD thread. You must have Googled it! :)

Re: Les paul pickup suggestions please

I'm going to reccomend the set that I use - a '59 in the bridge and Alnico II Pro in the neck.

The 59 makes a badass bridge pickup that will cut through in the mix yet doesn't sound thin at all, and the A2Pro in the neck makes rythym playing warm and fat and leads sing and sustain like you wouldn't believe. In the middle position you get the best of both worlds - great for slow melodic lead playing.
