I use a highly microphonic neck pickup that i just hold up to my mouth and holler my solos into.

Almost always neck pickup... Never both together, and maybe sometimes the bridge with a bit of tone rolled off when I want the solo to hit the upper frequencies hard...

Mostly bridge and occasionally neck.

I mostly stay on the bridge with all of my guitars, Les Paul included.

I used to switch to the neck pickup for leads all the time, but I could never get it to sound the way I wanted it to sound: If I had a nice fat tone on the bridge, the neck would sound too muddy; if I had a nice singing neck lead tone, then my bridge would sound way too buzzy.

It reminds me of something EVH said about only using the bridge pickup on a Les Paul. I have to agree with that guy.

I had to switch up my chops to accommodate for playing only on the bridge pickup, but I like my tone better that way. I'll sometimes switch to the neck for leads, but that's rare. I use the middle position for cleans sometimes, but It's really mostly the bridge pickup that I use.

Probably 80% bridge, 20% neck.

Like t4d, I hardly ever use both together - should do a Greeny mod and get an extra sound there!

I usualy only use the in between pos when I'm rhythming...that way I can get a brighter or darker tone by the volume adjustments, and some really cool tones like a wah stuck in place with a few combos.

I like the neck and bridge for solos, neck only for rhythm. Barely ever solo the bridge. I guess I'm very much in the minority though . . .

Maybe 65% bridge and 35% neck. Both positions are very useful. Like that buttery neck pup sound with tone rolled off sooooooo much.... :fing2:

This is going to sound like the a-hole, self righteous, preachy answer, but here goes:

Whatever the song calls for. Sometimes neck, sometimes bridge, sometimes middle, sometimes one in full 'bucker with one split, just whatever it takes to sit well in the mix.

I'm in a three peice and do a lot of looping on stage with the neck for rhythm and bridge for leads

A good mix of both, though lately I've been using the middle position with the bridge pickup out-of-phase

I don't own a GLP myslf, but have played many including a friend's which has the C5/Jazz combo. I must say that playing leads in either position on his GLP sounded awesome (even if the playing sucked. Lol).

I've also played through a GLP of a guy in a music shop which had the Pearly Gates neck pickup & that was great too!

In summary, i think it depends on what pickups you have in to determine which position to use for leads. I peronally wouldn't be exclusively bridge or exclusively neck for solos although i am exclusively bridge for rhythm & almost exclusively neck for cleans on most guitars.

Jazz...............95% neck
Blues..............All 3 positions equally

i do both, depends on what the song calls for

never really the middle though, i don't like my middle position right now, pretty much just sounds like the neck with a hint more clarity
