les paul slash signature

Re: les paul slash signature

Love the color, love the pickups.

Since when is a skinny 60s profile his preferred neck shape? Was the AFD skinny? The tobaccobursts had big fat 59 type profiles.

Re: les paul slash signature

The guitar looks amazing. I imagine is just a Les Paul Standard (Wine Red) with the Slash Alnico II Pro's. You could also say is a wine red AFD Guitar. :)

Re: les paul slash signature

I think this is like #9 for him.

1. custom shop LP with piezo (sp?) pickup
2. USA LP goldtop
3. USA LP tobacco burst
4. USA/VOS faded sunburst
5. USA/VOS AFD LP
6. EPi goldtop
7. EPi AFD
8. Epi tabacco burst
9. Red AFD

Id rather just buy a LP std and stick AIIPs in it and save a bunch of money for not paying for the "Slash model"

Re: les paul slash signature

If market research has suggested that large numbers of people would willingly pay, Gibson will willingly manufacture.

Some obsessives want to buy a guitar of a specification that is as close as humanly possible to what the signature endorsee plays. Some customers just want the look in a package that they can handle and afford. To the latter, the fact that the skinnier neck might detract from their imitation of signature endorsee's sound is of no importance.

Re: les paul slash signature

I was not commenting based on whether the neck shape will be a selling point for the masses and the thought never even crossed my mind (as I do not care about the masses).

I was asking about the neck profile as Slash has made it clear many times he likes a big beefy neck. Now Gibson is stating the 60s profile is his favorite.

Yep.

Just get a Wine Red of the appropriate shade and slap a couple of A2P's in the and BAM! half the price, all the tone, and a few mojo marks from use.

Re: les paul slash signature

damn......cant believe I forgot the Epis.......gotta edit my last post

By the way - I played a couple of those Epi Elitist Slash models. Those are major bad@$$edness. Get one of those if you can find one. Can't believe Gibson let EPI do that. I'd NEVER buy the Gibson version over one of those.
