Les Paul Studio 50's tribute P-90s

May have been covered here before but here goes. I recently acquired a nice LP Studio 50's tribute with Gibby P-90s. Sounds pretty good but I'll probably experiment. The question I have is about the bridge p'cup. It's not parallel to the strings. It's tilted toward the bridge. It would seem logical that I'd be able to get it flat under the strings but no go. Would I benefit from removing it and making some adjustments either in the rout or fitting a rubber shim in there to level it off?

I gotta open it up and see. I was wondering if it's a common situation with that guitar or if it makes much difference with the pole pieces tilted away. I would think optimally they should be parallel to the strings. Am I correct?

Honestly, for a P-90, it doesn't really matter. Distance TO the string is the thing practically.


Edit for the ULTRA-GEEKS: Yes, the angle may make a subtle difference in the magnetic field blah blah blah. But at the distances we are talking about, and the angle variation…whatever.

P90 pickups move around a lot. Try adjusting it while it's still installed they have some give because they are basically floating on springs

Thanks for the responses- tried adjusting it a few times to see if I could correct the angle on the way up/down but to no avail. Just looks like it's supposed to be flat- if it doesn't affect the tone to the positive side then I'll probably leave it alone until my OCD kicks in.
