Les Paul tone knob issue

So my nephew bought a new lp studio 50's trib with the 490/489t pickup set. He has recently noticed that the bridge pickup volume pot will go from 10-1 like normal, but when he goes from 1-0 it is acting like a no load pot in reverse..I would crack it open and trouble shoot it for him, however I live 900 miles away, and he's is a newbe to maintenece issues.. Just trying to wrap my head around what could be the issue.. I don't know if these LP's are hand wired or a circuit board. I am kind of wondering if someone didn't turn the pot down past the stop, and off the carbon..(guitar is new, but was a gc demo).. Any thoughts appriceated..

I am guessing that most people buying one wouldn't care or have any reason to question the pickups. However, as far as the OP, go for a warranty fix. If not, you'll have some electronics to replace.

i believe he is going to pursue warranty work. If he is not happy with it, then out goes the board and in goes the cts pots..

doesnt make sense does it? Should have had 57 classics at least..

Actually their Burstbuckers are much better sounding PU's than '57 Classics. Gibson's gotten creative and introduced several new PAF's last year, even using A3 magnets. I'm optimistic that Gibson will eventually get their PU's matched better to their guitars.
