Leslie to go

My Pedaltrain Metro 16 with hard case arrived today. I just finished putting the board together with it that I've been planning around my H&K Tube Rotosphere. The Rotosphere is an exact fit on the board, and leaves no room to spare at all in the case... but it fits like a glove. It's almost like that Metro 16 and case was designed for the Rotosphere. The H&K doesn't need much accompaniment by other effects; the only other things on the board are a Boss tuner and an Earthquaker Devices Speaker Cranker. Both of these have low power consumption, so I'm powering them with 9v batteries. This way I just have to find one outlet for the Tube Rotosphere power adapter. I love this new board. Simple but mighty! Check it out:

Re: Leslie to go

thats cool. my rotosphere is on my big board which i only bring out to shows with one band at one venue and always use two amps and it sounds righteous.

hows the speaker cranker? ive heard good things but never seen one to try

Re: Leslie to go

I also use my Rotosphere with two amps - there's nothing like it. The Speaker Cranker is a really nice medium gain overdrive. I know this is a cliche, but it sounds very "amp-like", like the power tubes are getting pushed into drive. It has one feature that some people like but I defeated: as you turn the gain up (the "More" knob) the volume level also increases, so that when you're at a higher gain setting you have quite a level boost. I prefer to have my drives at or near unity gain. So I paid an amp tech to solder in a little internal master volume control. It still gains volume as you crank it up, but now I set it for unity at the setting I usually play at, and just leave it on that setting (which is almost all the way up). It sounds awesome driving the Rotosphere.

Re: Leslie to go

sounds like a cool little unit and a fun compact little rig

Re: Leslie to go

I think the effects I like most are one good overdrive and my Strymon Lex rotary pedal. So, I understand exactly where you're coming from.

Right now, I use a Boss Harmonist into the Strymon Lex for a big organ/leslie sound. I spent years playing with B3 virtuoso, Mike Mangan from Big Organ Trio, and turned him onto using a wah with his rig. He turned me on to the idea of making a guitar into an organ/leslie.

Now, I'm late to the party in upgrading that sound. My next step is to run an EH B9 and C9 into the Lex for the ultimate guitorgan setup.

Re: Leslie to go

my buddy has a lex and its a cool pedal. another guy i know has the b9 and i dont like the sounds he gets out of it but he can be a dip**** so might just be him not knowing how to set it properly
