I have a LP Junior with a blue sunburst finish. I want to paint it matte black with shiny black swirl in the body. Now my father told me that painting would affect te tone, but id figure since its a cheaper guitar, it wont afect it much. What do you guys think i should do? And if any body has any tips on how to paint it and what kinds of pait to use. Im tryna use spray paint.

A thin coat won't do anything.....or if anything probably nothing audible. Huge thick coats might serve to modify the natural wood vibrations......but even this may or may not be audible.

The key is mainly in finding compatible paint to the stuff already on there. If its a Gibson then there will be nitro lacquer finish.

You can paint your Les Paul Jr, a new BJA pickguard is fine too.

If you are interested let me know.

Especially if you go with the Blackout, tone will be fine. Just don't slather it on. That LP isn't a "Tone" block anyway...
