Poison's Talk Dirty to Me was great! Unfortunately it's the pinnaccle of hair metal, but it fit the song and rocked out.

I thought every solo off Def Leppard's Hysteria was horrible. Great songs, but the guitars were soooo a processed mess that they didn't sound like guitars anymore. After Hysteria is probably got worse, I stopped listening.

I just heard Fall Out Boy's Beat it the other day- and that may be the worst. John Mayer is a good guitar player, but that was just a monstrocity.

There's the Jimmy Page solo performance of Stairway to Heaven where he was evidently trippin on heroin. He managed to keep it together the whole song, but it got worse and he butchered the solo. He was on stage with Clapton and Beck- they stepped in, tried to help him out, and Page's playing left Clapton cringing

Still, as lousy as he was there, I wish I could sound like him ;)

Jerry Garcia's solo's on Casey Jones & Truck'in.:lame: Pretty much he was brilliant on all the others! And they NEVER get played on the radio?:disappoin

The bass fill that Guy Pratt plays on the live Delicate Sound of Thunder version of "Another Brick in the Wall pt.2". Why oh why did they chose him? Roger's playing, while never overly technical, was perfect for Floyd. Then this idiot comes in and slaps all over classic Floyd tunes. Yeah, awesome!

EDIT - Some idiot LIKES it on Youtube! Link Skip to 3:334, unfortunately you miss Dave's solo if you do that.

That is really quite poor, possibly worse than his solo at Live Aid, which was also shocking.

Lots of the early Metalica solos bug the sh*t out of me. They sound like an after thought tacked on with so old nails.

I'd have to say the solo in that gawd-awful 4 Non-Blondes song "What's Going On?". Holy sheeeit, what a terrible song!

Re: lets go in reverse, whats the worst solo you've ever heard?

That's just a horrible song period- and no guitar solo could save it

Also, I'd like to mention Carlos Santana. For the love of God, Chuck, please stop smoking weed. You've been playing the same d amn solo since 1972.

Mr. Hammet, Talent called. He said he's sorry he couldn't make it. He said he's been stuck in traffic since 1990.

is that the one where he's dribbling all over himself? i was amazed when i saw that

Re: lets go in reverse, whats the worst solo you've ever heard?

there is this kid pat who comes to my blues jam. its bad. metal zone and a boss compressor with the sustain turned all the way up. cant play in key, cant play in time and plays alot of notes very loudly. i would gladly welcome a cc deville disaster compared to this kid (who thinks he is pretty good to boot)

You sure that wasn't me?

Re: lets go in reverse, whats the worst solo you've ever heard?

Quite a bit (actually most) Slash bores me to tears...partly because of the note choice but also his tone is just horrible...

I feel you on that call Christian. As far as his tone, it almost seems to be a parody of itself anymore. He sounds like whatever his 'preset' would be on a digitech RP box.

And he can be pretty cool when he just rips, but when he is trying to be 'Slash the melodic blues rock guy', it just all sounds the same. Kind of like a target note blues lesson book solo.

Re: lets go in reverse, whats the worst solo you've ever heard?

just about anything by Neil Young.

+1. One of the world's worst at attempting lead guitar. How can anyone be so clumsy & unable to move around the strings? It's like he's holding a sandwich in his left hand while he's playing. Also another contender: John Foggarty, who has no sense of soloing what-so-ever. And most of Keith Richard's solos are outclassed by just about any garage band on an off day.

Re: lets go in reverse, whats the worst solo you've ever heard?

It hurts to say it but J. Hendrix Purple Haze has one of the most horrible solos ever.:28::28::28::28:
