El Dunco
Sock Supplier to RHCP
I have a Jackson Warrior kit that I had left lying around in pieces because it required some woodwork to get it to all fit together.
Now that this is done, I have a very nice playing guitar without a set of pickups so a thought occurred to me in the form of something of a challenge.
I make a video of me playing a badass jam of one of my bands new songs from the record which is being pressed right now, using whatever Duncan we choose as a forum. Of course I will be buying the pickup, I'm not expecting any endorsements or anything silly like that.
This will be the thread where we nominate which Duncan for me to drop in the guitar, promote and rock with, then I will make another with a poll where we vote on it once and for all.
The guitar is routed for 2 buckers (If we choose a neck I'll switch to it for the solo). It's an alder warrior with a stop bar Les Paul type bridge.
In all honesty, I can play through any pickup and make it sound righteous but we can have some real fun with this. The newer it is the better and the more unlikely it is the better.
Should follow the following commandments.
1. Thou will growl like mofo on thine chords will roar like lion, growling on sustain of thee and snarling as thou decays.
2. Thy chunky palm mutes shall hit like sledgehammer to thy tiles. Thou shalt not be boring same old "chugga chugga".
3. Thou shalt have mighty low-mid testicles and may sag but shalt not flub or fart.
4. Thou shalt be heard and punch through. Always.
5. Thou shalt gracefully accept cheeky and menacing 7th and 10th intervals and have them be noticed in a rocking chord.
6. Thou shalt be a more creative choice than staple pickups such as the tried and true JB/Distortion etc. (mostly because I already have guitars with these pickups in them and it's about time we had a demo of an unusual, brand new or untested pickup doing a searing, violent mammajaaammmm)
7. Thy pickup may be passive or active.
8. Thy hums must be bucked.
9. Thy pickup may be a one off such as a forum pickup which thine may have missed out on as long as acquisition can be arranged (this pro is responsible for purchase)
10. Thy parts may be customized however, tonal change from mag/pole piece swaps must have a significant bearing on thy tone and must already be like that.
I promise I will do everything in my power to make this video demo really exciting, badass and an awesome representation of what Seymour Duncan's can do and I really hope you folks enjoy it when I make it.
Fire away the suggestions guys!
