they have some nice vintage style, hand made straps. I have this one on my SG.

These are $60 dollars each though.

makes me sad inside.

Re: lets see some bad ass guitar straps.

true.. Im frugal and used to buy nylon straps. slipped on the shirt (esp with a neck heavy guitar) and the edge could skin my neck if it slid around. Plus felt kinda yucky when I peel of the the shirt in rock god mode...
Started ponying up the extra bread for leather and all is better. comfort, slippage, and even the feel of the extra luxury. Most of my leather straps are fairly cheap. My only photo worthy ones are my lightening bolts .

Id love to have a python one, but cant justify the expense.

A nice guitar deserves a nice strap. And at the risk of sounding like a weenus, a nice-looking, comfortable strap really does help you bond with your instrument.

How true. I bought straps as quick as possible for my guitars. Although I'm not super happy about the lame brown one I have for my Sheraton. I should check out the ebay ;)

There are some gorgeous straps here!
I made one for my son out of a Cadillac seat belt. it has a latch just above the top horn while wearing it. There are some commercially available ones, but if you can afford a needle and thread, they're easy enough to make yourself. I got the parts for about $10 from a junk yard.

For a second there, I was thinking, "What? You bought a cadillac to make a strap!?" :P

Re: lets see some bad ass guitar straps.

Back around 1973 a guitar-playing mate had a girlfriend who did leatherwork and we got her to make us a strap each. They went to Sydney and bought an entire cow skin and she made two really long, 4" wide straps, one for each of us. They were almost rigid and had no adjustment, only a series of holes at the back end. Curiously, the skin they bought had my initials cut/burned into it and they were able to cut it so it was on my strap. (For many years i didn't believe them, but after endless interrogations, i know they were telling the truth).

I spent a lot of time trying to soften mine up. Eventually i shortened it and over time, it has had a series of dog collars attached to make it easier to use. When i attached the dog collars I had to use leather strapping to stitch some denim on the back to protect the guitars from the metal studs. It's rustic but it works.

It's been in it's current configuration for about thirty years. It has been my number one strap for close to forty. It's been on my main guitar at every single gig, jam, audition and any time i've stood up with any guitar. It's seen a lot of guitars come and go and i have a lot of other straps, but nothing beats this one. It will still be in use when i eventually fall down dead. It may not be pretty but it's the most comfortable strap and it's an old friend.

That's one heck of a vintage strap, Crusty. Like a chastity belt...

I wouldn't be surprised if Geoff (WahWah) has some straps that smoke everyone else's, just like that darned Strat and the MXR pedals.

Re: lets see some bad ass guitar straps.

I like that purple strap at the begining, but it kinds of seems too GC-failed musician-employee to me.

when a friend hand makes you something like this you take it...in this case i love it......i would have never bought a strap this nice......and the only failed musician is one that wont play his guitar anymore...im not on that list.

grotesque.

Apart from those simple Couch straps, I hate everything in this thread.

I really like bare bones, simple straps that don't hurt my eyes.

Re: lets see some bad ass guitar straps.

My favorite strap is one my wife had made for me when she was still in school in East Texas. She had a saddle maker craft a strap out of leather and had my name put on it. It's the first time he ever made a guitar strap. It is so comfortable. I've been using a nylon strap on my #1 for a while but recently went back to that leather strap.

I have two other leather straps from Italia Guitar Straps that are really nice and use those primarily on my SG's.
