Let's see some telecasters( telecasters only)

Re: Let's see some telecasters( telecasters only)

Here are a few of the Teles I've built:
This is one of the first ones I built. Just your basic Tele in fluorescent orange.

This IS a Tele, but I cut out the upper bout, left off the pickguard, chambered the body (swamp ash), added belly cut and forearm relief.

This one is one of my favorite guitars. My wife calls it "The Denim". Chambered with belly cut, mahogany body with maple cap, Tele/Stratocaster blended pickguard. Only weighs 6.0 pounds.

Next I decided to laminate maple, wenge, padauk, and purpleheart into this chambered Tele again with belly cut. I even created a multi-laminated headstock veneer,

This one is my wife's favorite so far. Mahogany chambered body with belly cut, ash with padauk and wenge cap. I decided to do something a little different with the edges...in addition to binding, I also routed the edges.

One that I'm currently working on. Mahogany chambered body, maple and purpleheart cap (with accents of wenge), belly relief, Fretboard is maple and purpleheart laminated with binding, abalone dot fret markers. The back has a maple/purpleheart/maple stripe down the center (it can be seen in the pickup routs). When it's finished it will have a light burst of purple around the edge to approximately match the color of the purpleheart.

So, some of these don't look like your typical Tele, but the design actually is based upon the Tele shape with some minor (and some major) modifications. Notice how I chopped down the lower horn...I figured that it was just useless weight.

That’s some serious talent bro....
Very nice.
VERY NICE!

Re: Let's see some telecasters( telecasters only)

My hands and body never adapted to the Tele shape or style. I always love what other people can do with them, but I can't make them sound good. I love looking at them though. Some very good looking guitars in here so far! Keep the pics coming.

I’ve got both a Tele and a Strat.
I’ve tried and tried but Fenders just aren’t my thing.

I wasn't a Fender fan either until I started throwing humbuckers in them. Now I have two Strats and two Teles I love.

My Strat is a HSS and it does sound really good. I’ve got a set of “Hot Breeze” Fokin pickups in it. And I’ve got to admit, that I probably need to give it another shot.
The Tele: I LOVE its looks. Two tone sunburst FSR. Even though it has the hot ceramic stock pickups it doesn’t sound half bad. I think what I don’t care for about it is the neck. The nut width is too narrow. I typically like a 1 11/16 nut and this one is 1 5/8....and I’m not convinced that I want to buy an aftermarket neck just yet.

Do it . So worth it . My custom neck is more gibson like . Big bulky but has a 9.5” radius vs 6.5-7 they normally come with . So much nicer

Where did you find a 6.5-7 radius normally coming on something? I would love that, but the lowest I've ever seen available without custom building is 7.25".

Typical old Fender radius: 7.25". I wish it was even curvier, myself.

Any true custom builder can do it. I have two go-to guys when I want some "true" custom work done. One is Brian Monty, and the other is Eric Chaz. Eric is just across town, and can do most things. But when I need something really oddball, totally built from scratch, I use Brian, even though he's in Canada.

Past a certain point you can really just start putting frets on the back of your necks instead of the fronts...

My homebuilt Tele, with a Broadcaster in the bridge, a Fralin Blues Special in the neck and a 4-way switch.

I've had really bad Tele GAS for months now and this thread isn't helping!

Tried this Telebration Cabronita Tele a couple of weeks ago!
