Let's See Those Acoustics!

Re: Let's See Those Acoustics!

I have 2 acoustics–a six string and a twelve string all solid woods on both

Eastman E8D – Spruce top, Rosewood sides & back, Mahogany neck w/Ebony board

'76 Guild F212XL – Spruce Top, Mahogany sides & back, Mahogany neck w/Rosewood board

Sweet! That Guild looks like it'll really throw some sound with that wide body!

Thanks man! Yeah, that old Guild is a bear (not the most comfortable to wrap your arm around) to play BUT the tone is beyond amazing! Harmonics just pop out effortlessly and such a huge monster sound! I highly recommend them! :D

This is the Yamaha 12 string in action.

This is the Taylor in action. Unfortunately, I went straight direct and didn't take the time to do any micing.

Re: Let's See Those Acoustics!

I used to have a pair of Harmony H-168's, I found one at a music store for $100 and the very next week found the other at a yard sale, for $50. The yard sale one had a dead solid neck, the music store one needed a re-set. They both needed new tuners. These get no love, but they're good-sounding solid wood acoustics (solid Birch back/sides/neck, solid Sitka Spruce top) and the cool 6-in-line headstock. I wanted an acoustic but wanted anything BUT the typical yellow top, square headstock guitar. These have HUGE club-like necks, too... I loved them. I ended up having to sell them when I got laid off, and needed $- I think I got $100 for the pair (with cases)

I still have this one (Sigma 12-er) I got it cheap ($50) because it needed tuners (only had 10, and those were mismatched) the nut was cracked, the saddle was way too low, and the bridge plate was shattered. Apparently all common problems with these.

I already changed the tuners

cleaned up and patched the bridge plate and have a nut and saddle blank ready to go. Y'know, once I get the 673457 other projects finished.

Re: Let's See Those Acoustics!

Tacoma EKK9 Solid Koa

Owned this for about 2 years now; first Koa Gutiar with which I have spent much time. I was actually looking for a Cedar top and ran across this one, which with the solid Koa everything was really rich and full sounding and it responds beautifully whether you are playing something light and delicate or it just opens up when you dig in. I was impressed. First guitar that I have had in a very long time that makes me want to pick it up and play it - every time I look at it I want to hear it.

Euro/Mini-Jumbo, Satin Finish, Solid Koa Front, Back & Sides, Mahogany Neck, Rosewood Fretboard, Tortoise Shell Binding on body and neck, Herringbone Inlays , 20 "big"frets...

Not one I have, but I would really like to have a Rainsong Black Ice or one of the new Rainsong Smokey . I think the carbon fiber is gorgeous and they are supposed to be more impervious to heat and such.

Emerald also makes some gorgeous carbon fiber guitars. Never tried one, but they sure LOOK great!
