LET'S TALK KT66/KT88s......

Are they just the "High End" version of the 6L6/EL34 or is there more too it than that?

I was reading http://www.GUITARAMPLIFIERBLUEPRINTING.COM and it really doesn't say a whole lot about them.

I'm running some big ass coke bottle Groove Tube 6CA7-GE EL34s in my Hiwatt. Sounds super smooth, but I was wonderring if the KT-88s would just make it sound even better.

ANY THOUGHTS????

KT-66 is most like a 6L6
KT-77 is most like an EL-34
KT-88 is most like a 6550

the KT series tubes have a bueatiful tone...very smooth and very fat and round, a set of 88's in a HiWatt would make a great tone, and a HiWatt has a big enough transformer to run a set as well...I say do it!

FWIW, I use KT66HP's in my SLO-100. They are great tubes! They are thick and round and beefy. Rollin' thunder!!! The GT HP's are definitely the ones to get. Chinese just sound really hard. NOS could be an option, but high price and questionable service life.
