Lew, can the Ant II's get me this tone?

Frito's Better Half
The strat notch tone throughout the Shaver song "Heart of Texas" is the tone that I would die for. The strat is Eddy's 55 that D!cky Betts gave him, so would it be the Ants, or the Ant II's? As soon as I know which ones, my order is in.

I guess no one knows what tone I'm talking about?

i want my single coils to give me the tone in Chris Issak's "wicked game". then i'd be happy. which pickups would do that?

Re: Lew, can the Ant II's get me this tone?

Guys: pretty much ALL Strat pickups from 1955 until the present day use ALNICO 5 polepieces like the Antiquity II Surfers. The Surfers are the Antiquitys closest to the vintage Strat pickups used by SRV, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Eric Johnson (except for his bridge pickup, that's a Dimarzio), Robert Cray, etc. in thier old Strats.

The Antiquity I Texas Hots are fabulous pickups but they use Alnico 2 and have a differant sound (more mids)...Fender may have used alnico 2 for some RARE '51 and '52 Tele Lead pickups (the inspiration for the Duncan Jerry Donahue Tele pickup) but I've never heard of any 50's or 60's Fender Strat pickups that used alnico 2.
