Ran into a bad experience with a ebay seller. This guy through a hissy fit because I sent polite inquiry as to a delivery date of my Jerry Donahue pickups. I only wanted to know so that I could be there to pick it up...I live in a small town where the post office closes at 3:45 and the UPS comes at 3:00. I usually get home at 4:00. I have nicknamed him "The Pickup Nazi". Never did send my PUPs and sent my money back with a vengence.

Buyers Beware

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

He's a big poster on here. He refused to lower the Buy it Now price so that it would be cheaper than Guitar Center. Hope he found a buyer for that pickup.

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

This is the first I've heard of a bad experience with Lew, and +1 for him being one of the (if not the) most respected forum guys.

Same here. Lew's always been extemely helpful with questions I've had, and even offered to rewind a bad pup for the cost of shipping!

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

Interesting...I´ve dealt with Lew on multiple occasions and have never had any problems (That he could be faulted for)....

Could you please explain exactly what happened? You´re post is quite vague as to what happened.....And the fact that you recieved a refund doesn´t exactly put you in the best position, either. If he had scammed you, ok, but this just looks like a mere deal gone wrong to me....

Or even better, send Lew a PM and try to clear it up. ;)

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

This thread should last about 10 minutes...

This guy started hammering me with "where are my pickups" questions and saying "they should have been here by now" three days after he paid for them! :laugh2:

I sent him an immediate refund...without hissing and without any comment at all. :laugh2:

As for this other guy (15 year old Boleslaw Gers 666) if Guitar center is selling SD pickups for more than a 30% discount they are in violation of SD Pickups pricing recomendations.

So when he asked me to give him more than a 30% discount I refused.

That's about all there is to it.

yes ur post is vary vague indeed .Lew has been very helpfull. and definetly not a "pickup Nazi". i have nothing but the highest respect for him infact I always look for what he hsa to say on his posts!

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

Sorry Lew...but you were way out of line with me. You could have explained to me that you do not like to be contacted by email. I would have excepted that and not contacted you. Instead, you cancelled my order the day I expected it to get here and refunded my money without explanation. I am willing to conduct the transaction again and start anew. Would you agree to that?

No.

And I have no issues with people sending me emails. I answer about 200 questions a week via email. :)

I suspected you would say that. Please try to treat the next customer with a little more respect.

Lew isn't my best friend in the world by any stretch but why did you come here again? Seems like trash talking about Lew was the only motive. You got your money back and no harm was done save what damage you percieve to your ego. What exactly is your beef again?

I just tried... no luck. I dont know how to explain any more clearly. I bought the pickups on ebay. Paid for them. Four days pass and all I do is email LEWGUITAR asking for the aprox. delivery date or a tracking number, never complaining about anything. He refunds the money to my account without explanation and cancels my order the day I expected it in the mail. I never said a negative thing to him. His exact reply was, "When people start pressing me I start feeling like I don't want to sell to
them.

You started pressing me with "where are my pickups" questions 3 days after
you bought them.

There's no way anyone can ship that fast.

So I refunded your money...that's easier than dealing with impatient people.

I like easy transactions...I just do this for the fun of it.

Thanks, Lew"

I was left wondering, where in the heck did that come from. Most do not have a bad time with this guy but I did. Perhaps he got me confused with another customer. I dont know but I dont deserve that treatment. Lessons learned I guess.

George

That is exactly what happened. No "hissy fit" that he originally accused me of at all. Just an immediate refund and a polite email.

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

Guys, you sort of brought this to the grand jury.. (that's everyone posting here)..
Trust me , bad deals happen. A lot. Yours was clean and neat, IMO. Can't we now just get along?

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

Georgeatt,
Lew is one of the most knowledgeable and respected people regarding pickups.

His Ebay profile shows an over 99% positive rating, after more than 1200 transactions. You are in a very small minority. You should've been reasonably patient, and been satisfied with a good deal.

Lew rightly spotted you as a problem customer, and gave you an immediate refund.

Where's the problem?

You showed poor judgement again by chosing this forum to attempt to publicly disrespect Lew, who as stated, is one of the most respected members here.

Using the term "pickup Nazi" to describe someone who has refunded your money, actually says a lot about you as a person.

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

Sorry George, but I´m on Lew´s side. 3 Days is way fast for almost anything you can order over the internet. there´s a reason that eBay makes you wait 30 days before filing a claim. A good part of it is that Star Trek was a TV Show and Scotty was an actor, hence "Beaming" doesn´t exist.

If you want an item NOW, then in Heaven´s name go to your local store and pay the extra. You´ll save on shipping, as well.

What?? They don´t have it, you say?? But they can order it, right? Oh, it takes 2 WEEKS, well, that´s absolutely unheard of. Then order it over the internet, if I can pay in seconds then I can have the swag in seconds. WHAAAT??? The Internet uses the post office as well?? And those are PEOPLE with LIVES on the other side???? So it might take a WEEK?? I´LL DIE, this can´t be happening!!!

Welcome to the real world, George ;)

BTW: Lew is quite a forgiving person. If he flat out refuses to deal with someone, then there´s a GOOD reason.

PS: I agree that maybe he could have better communicated the "end", but I also think that as soon as you have your cash back it should be obvious, and that it shouldn´t require a separate agreement. ;)

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

i agree that Lew is a good guy, but i can also see your beef with him just ending the deal and refunding the money with no negotiation........ doesnt seem right on either side to me

Re: LEWGUITAR Wrong Place for PUPs

I haven't had the pleasure of purchasing anything from Lew as of yet because I am still trying to finish the decisions on the pickups and electronics to control those pups. With that in mind, Lew has responded to EVERY one of my PM's with a wealth of information that has led me to make an informed decision on the purchase.

I have no doubts that this was an isolated case of miscommunication and will commission his services when I finalize my setup.

That is all I have to say about that.....
