Gibson SG USA Standard.

Bought this several years ago cuz I had coupons, gift certs, discount, etc. from Guitar Center. Hand picked by myself as the best among 3 other SG's GC West Covina, CA. had in stock. I'm the orig owner. Bought it as a back-up for my other SG Standard. The cool thing for you is, I've never had to use it. :1: Played a couple of times then sat in its case for years.

Dont recall the year tho I'm sure some *serial # detective work will tell you. Completely stock 490r & 498t pickups. Rosewood fretboard. Some wear on the back due playing. Front looks perfect. No dings or dents and hardly any signs of wear... Comes with case and orig paperwork.

It's that clear plastic stuff that comes on all the guards and plates and whatnot.

FYI, your sg was made at the Nashville Plant on March 7th, 2005 and its production number was 196

Yes, I never removed the clear plastic that protects the the control plate. It has been removed from the front tho.

I just took the plastic off of my 1998 (bought new). I do play mine, and the plastic was looking sort of ratty pealing up in places. After this much time I'm pretty sure it's a keeper.

First and fifth numbers combine to show the last two digits of the year. 0---5 = a 2005 guitar.

The three numbers in between the first and fifth show the day of the year. 066 = the 66th day of the year. 2005 was not a leap year, so that means it was March 7th.

The last few numbers don't really tell you anything of import. They are just the serial number, in the true definition of the word, while the first five numbers are a date code.

Beauty guitar! And I bought my Mesa F50 head as a floor model from that very same GC back in 2004.

I cant believe no ones bought this yet - I dont even like SGs (playability wise) but even I would be tempted by that if I lived in the US, its freakin gorgeous.
