Liberator installed

I just finished installing a liberator inmy Ibanez Saber. It was a tight given that everthing (two pots, 5-way, and jack) isl located in the small cavity. It took me a while to figure a few things out. But after installing it I was able to install my old pickup, then swap two others, and test a bit in about 1 hour.

Some notes
1. it appears (and makes sense) that the grey and green wires are all to ground.
2. they provide a screw driver that is a tight fit but works great.
3. The solder pad are excellent. (too bad all pots didn't have some pads)
4. I wired all my control for auto-splits acording to Duncans wiring diagrams. Just follow their typical color scheme.
5. When installing non-Duncan pickups just transpose their color scheme to Duncans.
6. pickup changes can be made using the autosplit or not just by how you slip the wires into the connectors on the Liberator.
7. SWAPS ARE A PIECE OF CAKE

This is a very nice product if you want to swap pickup often. They are high quality and the sound is just like anything else. I don't mind soldering at all, but this is a no brainer for swaps. Loosen the strings, screws, connections, pull out, put in tighten, was and repeat.

Very.. Liberating..?

I like the concept.. I wonder if this would be a good thing to use in a semi-hollow body guitar, where wiring is a real pain in the..

Re: Liberator installed

When I first read about this I thought "really, Why?". Then I saw the videos Frank did and realized they had something really good.

Again, I do not mind soldering as one of my other hobbies is building flight simulator cockpits (makes four pots and a 3-way seem like childs play), but why if you do not need to.

I hope we start seeing new guitar with these installed at the factory, it will really help people make the decision to swap pickups.

As said before, once installed you really never have to worry about spliting, series, parallel, phase, etc. Just make your initial connections correct and change pickups over and over by simply unscrewing the pickup leads and screwing the new ones in, done.

I swapped two more sets last night. Even with a Floyd it only took about 15 minutes for each set and that was mostly spent unlocking and tuning. It would be nice if it had the capabilty to handle three pickups (I guess it might handle three true SC's?) but it is designed for 2 four wire pickups.
