Liberator with 3 single coils, how do I wire this - there is no diagram

Re: Liberator with 3 single coils, how do I wire this - there is no diagram

Easy!

Throw that Liberator away, and solder it. It takes less time, and you know your diagrams are right.

I realize this is the SDUGF, but that Liberator was a joke. It takes less time to learn how to solder than figure that thing out.

If I recall the liberator only supports up up two pickups. You'd need a second liberator.

Not quite true...we sell the Liberator-equipped BYOP Pickguard which has a Liberator, so it can be done. My guess is that there are enough wires on the output of the Liberator to do it (2 per pickup),, so write down what colors each output wire is, and screw your pickup in to the terminals. I can't find an exact diagram either, but there are certainly enough wires there.

+1, I have wired an HSH autosplit configuration with a Liberator so it is just a matter to select the wires from the liberator to be used with the single coils.

Mincer, any chance you can find what the diagram is for the BYOP pickguard? I am planing on an SSS with Liberator my self, I can make my own diagram but I would like to know myself about how SD staff chose to wire the thing.

Re: Liberator with 3 single coils, how do I wire this - there is no diagram

I'm assuming there's still only the Liberator pot and not a matching pickup switch?

The Liberator's wires are color-coded.

Looking at the diagram for the Liberator:
You can apparently attach 5 2-conductor pickups to it easily. There are wires coming from the Liberator that match up with each screw terminal, so wherever you attach a pickup wire, there's an Output for it. Where you route the wire form there is apparently up to you.

If you're using 3 3-conductor pickups, then the Liberator can do all 3 easily, and you'll have one terminal to spare.

However, if you're planning to use 3 4-conductor stacks or single-sized humbuckers (JBJr, etc) with all the fancy switching they're capable of, then a single Liberator can only do 2 of them.

For the OP, if you're using pickups that only have hot and ground (2 conductor) then you would attach each wire to any terminal on the block and attach the corresponding wire coming out of the Liberator to wherever you want it to go on the selector switch.

Again, this is for the pot only. I'm not a follower, so I don't know if there's a complete control system including switches or if it's still just the pot.

It is still just the pot. I have never hooked up 3 SCs to the Liberator, but those wires are just output wires, ready to solder anywhere. I tried to find a diagram, but I didn't see one either. Think of the wires coming off the Liberator as extensions of the wires on the pickups. Some will go to ground, some will go to the switch.

I stand corrected. Just realized I did a mini-diagram for this a while ago, just showing where the pickup positives leave the Liberator and go to the switch.

Someone on this forum managed to work out an HHH diagram with it - I believe this is based on the Everything Axe setup?.

I can't find much more than this.

There's a new product by Toneshapers named VHUB that comes in 2 flavors. VHUB-2 is for dual HB pickups and VHUB-1 is for 3 pickups. Similar to Liberator but physically smaller and with more features.
