Licensed FR string blocks question.

I've managed to lose the little string blocks on my LFR Ibby RG. My understanding is that "real" FR string blocks, (easily available), are larger and won't fit. Is there some reason I can't just put the string ball in there? It seems to fit just fine. Am I missing something here?

BTW, this guitar is probably going on the chopping block, so I guess resale value could be impacted.

you can jam the ball in there and it usually works fine. not great for resale value though
