Lil 59 feedback problem in a MIM Telecaster

Hello everyone!

I've recently replaced my bridge pickup in my made in Mexico Olympic White Telecaster with a Lil 59. I play in a Marshall Valvestate 8080 with heavy gain and I kept getting annoying feedback screeches. I solved my problem by barely turning down my tone knob on my Tele. Which leads me asking this, was my pickup not installed properly?

I also have a MIJ Stratocaster with a JB Junior in the bridge and not having this problem.

Thanks

The bridge itself is very often the cause of the issue - mechanical vibrations.
Make sure it is sitting flat on the top of the guitar and firmly screwed down. Also check that the pickup will fit the rout depth and that the lead isn't getting trapped under the pickup. The screws too should have some damping on them like surgical tubing

I had this same issue once, i solved it by using some thicker/stiffer tubing cut a little longer than the originals tubing, and the cutting pieces of foam from the packaging and stuffing it in between the sides of the pickup and the bridge. Took most of the unwanted feedback out.

Yeah, a lot of pickup springs are fairly wimpy. I use surgical tubing on all my Tele bridge pickups. I make sure I use enough that it gets pretty compressed when the pickup is at height.
