Lil '59 + Vintage Stack for Tele

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Looking at this set hard for my Tele.

I want a 4 way switch for Lil '59hb, 59 split, 59 split + neck, neck

My question is how will the Lil 59 match with the neck pickup?
- Will it be an awesome balanced set?
- Will I need to lower the neck?

Just don't know about the Split 59 vs the Vintage Stack outputs. Not trusting the DCR for this.

Not trying hard to hold on to the uber-classic Tele sound. But maybe have it in the ballpark as an option. I'd be mostly rocking (literally) the bridge pup only. Still, nice to have the option...

Or would maybe a plain old Vintage Tele neck be better? Not worried about the noise.

I recently played my first lil 59 in a strat. It had a split switch for all three lils (in middle and neck were 2 jbjr neck version). The split sound were very low volume and woody, quite useable for rhythm work but low volume.
You could also consider sl59 in parallel wiring.

I agree with hamerfan in that I'd probably do parallel rather than split. It will be a similar sound and remain humbucking.

But split when paired with the neck would probably be ok.

Ok, then the question is "Will a Lil 59 when in Parallel be too little output for a Vintage stack?" Or would a regular vintage tele neck be better?

I'm not concerned about hum. You may not know this, but a Tele bridge is single coil. It can hum!

But, if Parallel is a better single coil sound, and pairs as far as out put is concerned.

I basically want to rock this guitar in 59HB mode most of the time. But when I want to, I'd like to go to at least Tele-ish style output and sounds for the remaining three positions.

Doesn't have top be a Lil 59...If you think a JB or red Devil would be better, let me know.

It depends on what kind of sound you want in the bridge, really. None of the examples will sound particularly Tele-ish. The Red Devil is much brighter than the Little 59, though.

Yeah - I'll settle for single-coil-ish, if not Tele. Like I said, I'll almost certainly humpback it mostly.

But, If red Devil = Pearly Gates (ish) except ornerier, and hotter, and splits decent...Hmmmm

Red Devil is all those things.

So perhaps just add a Red Devil...

How would split red devil be with the Vintage Stack. I guess my main concern is the volume of the Vintage Stack.

Or maybe I just get the 59/Vinatge set...and another Tele for classic Tele tones? Always an option.
